To help celebrate the University Student Union’s 40th Birthday this year, ASI has put together a list of the top 40 - alcohol free - things that you should do in and around campus before graduation. This isn’t just a recommendation, this is a challenge! If you can prove by picture, receipt, scar, or other form of verification that you have completed at least half (20) of these items since the start of your time at Fresno State and May 8, 2009 you will be entered to win big prizes.
1. Register to vote! Check for the ASI Voter Registration booths in the Free Speech Area.
2. Take a hike! We recommend taking the 14 mile roundtrip hike up the 4,737 foot rise to Half Dome in Yosemite National Park. It’s about an hour and a half of driving and there is a $20 entrance fee per car. Visit www.nps.gov to plan your trip.
3. Volunteer. You can earn academic credit for getting involved in your community with the Jan and Bud Richter Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning. Find out how at: www.csufresno.edu/cesl
4. Get involved in ASI and make a difference on campus. This is your opportunity to improve the college experience for over 22,000 students. Find out how at www.asi.csufresno.edu.
5. Don’t fight for parking, rent a Red Bike! There is a $20 deposit for reconditioned bikes the first semester and $5.00 for every semester after that. Call (559) 278-6958 for more information on the Red Bike Program.
6. Attend an ASI Tailgate. Tailgates start two hours before every home football game on the Corner of Cedar and Bulldog Lane. Come and win tickets to the game!
7. Catch a weekend show at the Downing Planetarium. The Planetarium is open one weekend a month so call ahead of time to make reservations: (559) 278-4071 Cost: $2.50 for students with I.D.
8. Attend a sporting event for at least three different sports at Fresno State. Visit: www.gobulldogs.com for schedules.
9. Go see an event or concert at the Save Mart Center. See who’s coming to town and purchase tickets at: www.savemartcenter.com
10. Participate in the Homecoming celebrations!!! This year, you can cross this off your list by looking around campus for the festivities on October 6-11 as the ‘Dogs take on the pesky Idaho Vandals for the climax of the week.
11. Buy fresh produce and taste new ice cream flavors at the Gibson Farm Market, located on the southeast corner of Chestnut and Barstow Avenue.
12. Attend Vintage Days and sample some of the best food and visit the many craft booths, April 16 – 19th on campus. Admission is free.
13. Play racquetball at the Student Recreation Center (SRC). To make reservations call: 347-3871 Cost: Free for Fresno State students.
14. Go Pro! Attend a Fresno Grizzlies baseball game, the AAA affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. Tickets start at just $7.00 and can be purchased online at www.fresnogrizzlies.com or at the Chukchansi Park box office.
15. Be a non-drinking designated driver.
16. Read a newspaper from cover to cover every day for a week! Newspapers are provided free to the campus community through ASI’s Readership Program.
17. Join a campus club or organization. Stop by the Student Activities and Leadership Office in USU-306 for a list of clubs.
18. Participate in the Fresno Art Hop. Every first and third Thursday of the month 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Find out more at www.fresnoarthop.org
19. Attend a Theatre Production at Fresno State. Find play times and buy tickets online at: www.csufresno.edu/theatre
Complete at least 20 of the listed activities and you will automatically win:
4 tickets to a Fresno Grizzlies baseball game
2 games of bowiling in the University Bowling Alley
You will also be entered for a chance to to win bigger prizes from the Prize Pool. The prize pool currently includes:
Three (3) First Pitch Packages. Winners of this prize will receive a Fresno Grizzlies Suite for them and 13 of their friends, and be able to throw the First Pitch for that game!!
